ORGANISERS are hoping their drive-in fireworks event will help people mark the end of lockdown with a spectacular display.

Popcorn Movies was due to hold its Skyrocket Drive-in fireworks display at Ardleigh Showground at the start of November.

But plans were put on hold when the second national lockdown ended.

Now the firm, run by Emma Asensio, husband Adi Clarke and business partner Gary Sherman, is hoping the rearranged event will help people mark the end of the measures.

Two nights of spectacular fireworks displays will take place on December 4 and 5 with tickets still available.

There will be food and drink stalls, toilet facilities and socially distanced parking.

You will not be allowed to bring sparklers or other fireworks onto the site.

Emma said: "When the second lockdown happened we didn't know what to do.

"We decided to re-schedule for December. As we are just coming out of lockdown there will be lots of measures in place.

"We have had so much support from the community and people saying they didn't want their money back.

"We are going to come out of lockdown with a bang.

Gazette:

"We have been setting up ready and we have 3km of festoon lights, vendors, lasers and music."

Emma and her business partners, who run Spot On, based in Halstead Road, Colchester, normally provide stagehands to big music events across the country.

But when the pandemic hit its work dried up.

As a result they set up Popcorn Movies to offer a drive-in cinema experience at the Ardleigh Showground which launched over the August bank holiday.

And it has proved so successful they expanded their offering.

For both events tickets must be booked in advance and cost £30 per vehicle.
