A PET shop has been forced to close because of 'staff illness', bosses have confirmed.
The Pets at Home store in Pitsea has closed its doors until January 4, but staff at the Vets4Pets inside the shop will be still on site.
It's not yet confirmed whether the pet shop has been hit with a Covid outbreak.
The Echo has been told 'most staff' are not able to work.
The vets will still be open for emergency appointments and second vaccinations.

A spokesman from Vets4Pets, said: "All appointments will need to arrive at the back entrance - drive down between Kfc and the store and its on your left - and ring the doorbell on arrival.
"Please make sure you bring your masks and mittens as its getting very chilly and we do not have an inside waiting area available.
"If you already had an appointment scheduled and wish to enquire as to whether this is still going ahead then please email us at basildon@vets4pets.com
"Please don't call as our reception team is currently very busy trying to re-arrange 100s of appointments.
"In order to keep our staff and other clients safe, as well as adhering to current Tier 4 government guidelines, please do not come into us if you are self isolating or exhibiting any symptoms of Covid-19.
"Many thanks for your cooperation during this difficult time, and we apologise for any inconvenience caused."
