A 67-year-old has been left with life changing injuries after being hit by a car in Billericay.

The man was taken to hospital with head injuries which Essex Police say are described as life changing after the crash yesterday (January 6).

Officers were called shortly after 4.10pm with reports of a crash involving a Honda CR-V and a pedestrian on Hillside Road.

After being medically assessed, the pedestrian was then taken to hospital for further care.

A spokesperson from Essex Police, said: "We were called shortly after 4.10pm on Wednesday January 6 with reports of a collision involving a Honda CR-V and a pedestrian in Hillside Road, Billericay.

"The 67-year-old male pedestrian was taken to hospital with head injuries, which were described as life changing.

"Enquiries remain ongoing into the circumstances behind the collision.

A spokesperson from the ambulance service, said: "Two ambulances, an ambulance officer vehicle and Essex and Herts Air Ambulance were called to Hillside Road, Billericay following reports of a pedestrian injured in a road traffic collision.

"One man was transported by road ambulance to The Royal London Hospital for further assessment and care."
