A THUG drunkenly chased his ex-partner down the street with an axe while accusing her of cheating...despite the fact they had already broken up.

Jake Dickinson’s former girlfriend jumped out of a first floor window to escape him when he descended into a drunken rage

The 19-year-old of Eros Avenue, Southend, had previously been in a “ volatile” relationship with the woman for 18 months.

However, prior to his attack of the woman they had split up in November 2019.

After the separation the woman remained in contact with Dickinson’s mother, and on May 5 last year she was visiting her home in First Avenue, Canvey.

The two women had been drinking at home when Dickinson unexpectedly arrived.

The mother went to bed at 1am while the other two stayed up until 4am continuing to drink, until the woman went to bed.

She was woken by him a couple of hours later pestering her for sex.

When she declined, he became angry and accused her of cheating on him.

At Basildon Crown Court yesterday, Richard Scott, prosecuting, said: “She then jumped out of the window from the first floor of the house,

“He ordered her back into the house. She returned inside out of fear, but made her escape by the back garden gate.

“He then chased her with an axe in his hand.”

Mr Scott said that Dickinson caught up with the woman and hit her, before she got away again and called the police.

They attended the home at 6.20am when he was returning and was arrested.

He later admitted possessing an offensive weapon, assault by beating and criminal damage in relation to another incident where he damaged his mother’s property worth £60.

Mitigating, Sasha Bailey said Dickinson suffered from ADHD and previously had an issue with alcohol, but had been free of it for two to three months.

Recorder Claire Davies told Dickinson that the woman must have been “terrified” of him.

He received 14 months suspended for two years, 80 hours unpaid work and a five-year restraining order.
