A PAIR of brothers left a man with a fractured skull in a violent attack outside a bar ... with the victim punched and kicked while on the floor.

A large brawl broke out outside Mojo’s bar in Leigh which saw one brother grab the victim by his throat before the older brother punched him in the face.

The incident - on December 9, 2018 - came just months before the gin bar faced a review of its licence for hundreds of complaints about noise and behaviour.

Che and Zane Martin, aged 23 and 26, have now been handed suspended sentences for the attack.

Che initially held the victim by his throat before an enraged Zane stormed out to the smoking area and punched him to the floor.

After the commotion started, Zane then appeared and was aggressive, shouting “who is trying to fight my brother?” and despite efforts from Che to calm him, Zane punched the victim.

The man fell and hit his head on the pavement, and was punched and kicked several more times while on the floor.

Due to his hazey memory, it is not clear who attacked him while on the ground.

Mitigating for Zane, Sarah Fairburn said he was “almost immediately remorseful”.

She said: “He sent an Instagram message to the victim the next day. He contacted him to apologise when he found out he was in hospital.”

The victim suffered a fractured skull which had to be glued back together, and was forced to take a month off work as a result of his injuries.

Mitigating for Che, Danielle Buckett said he had taken steps to address his offending and had been not been in trouble before.

Recorder Leslie Cuthbert said it was a “sad” case brought on by “tempers fraying when drinking alcohol”.

He gave the brothers two years in jail suspended for two years, with Che getting 200 hours unpaid work and Zane 240. The brothers must both pay £500 compensation to the victim.
