A NEW housing study shows that it takes an average of 82 days for a property in Rochford to sell – one of the quickest areas to sell a home in south Essex.

Updated monthly, the latest dataset - from the professional house buying firm Property Solvers - analysed hundreds of property sales across the region between March 2020 and March 2021.

The statistics, from their speed of sale tool, track the moment a property is listed on the UK’s largest property portal Rightmove to the point it is marked as officially ‘sold’ at the HM Land Registry.

Properties in the Southend and Rochford areas were selling the fastest in the SS4 postcode, as 24 homes in this area took 82 days to sell on average.

The slowest was the SS3 postcode - which covers Shoebury, Great Wakering, Little Wakering and Barling - where properties are taking 141 days to sell on average.

In Castle Point, the SS8 postcode - which covers Canvey - was the fastest, with properties taking 100 days on average to sell.

While properties in Basildon area were selling the fastest in the SS11 postcode - which covers Wickford - taking 128 days on average to sell.

The slowest was the SS15 postcode - which covers Basildon and Laindon - where properties are taking 134 days to sell on average. 

Southend and Rochford areas

For the SS0 postcode - which covers Westcliff and Chalkwell - there were 29 properties tracked to March 2021. Here, properties are taking 108 days on average to sell.

In the SS1 postcode - which covers areas such as Thorpe Bay and part of Southchurch  - properties are taking 131 days to sell on average. There were 30 properties tracked to March 2021.

For the SS2 postcode - which covers the more central part of Southend town such as near the Victoria Shopping Centre, Prittlewell and Southchurch - properties are taking 121 days to sell on average. There were 45 properties tracked to March 2021.

For the SS3 postcode - which covers Shoebury, Great Wakering, Little Wakering and Barling - properties are taking 141 days to sell on average. There were 44 properties tracked to March 2021.

In the SS4 postcode - which covers homes in Rochford, Ashingdon, Canewdon, Stambridge and Paglesham - properties are taking 82 days to sell on average. There were 24 properties tracked to March 2021.

In the SS5 postcode - which covers Hockley, Hullbridge and Hawkwell - properties are taking 125 days to sell on average. There were 15 properties tracked to March 2021.

For the SS6 postcode - which covers Rayleigh - properties are also taking 121 days to sell on average. There were 53 properties tracked to March 2021.

For the SS9 postcode - which covers Leigh and Eastwood - properties are taking 133 days on average to sell. There were 82 properties tracked to March 2021.

Castle Point

For the SS7 postcode - which covers Hadleigh, South Benfleet, Thundersley and Daws Heath - properties are taking 113 days on average to sell. There were 66 properties tracked to March 2021.

For the SS8 postcode - which covers Canvey - properties are taking 100 days on average to sell. There were 32 properties tracked to March 2021.

Basildon areas

For the SS11 postcode - which covers Wickford, Runwell, Battlesbridge, Rawreth, Shotgate and Rettendon Place - properties are taking 128 days on average to sell. There were 16 properties tracked to March 2021.

In the SS12 postcode - which covers Wickford and part of North Benfleet - properties are taking 130 days to sell on average. There were 16 properties tracked to March 2021.

For the SS13 postcode - which covers Basildon, Bowers Gifford and part of North Benfleet - properties are taking 129 days on average to sell. There were 13 properties tracked to March 2021.

In the SS14 postcode - which covers Basildon - properties are taking 133 days on average to sell. There were 21 properties tracked to March 2021.

For the SS15 postcode - which covers Basildon and Laindon - properties are taking 134 days to sell on average. There were 33 properties tracked to March 2021.

For the SS16 postcode - which covers Basildon, Langdon Hills, Horndon on the Hill and Dry Street - properties are taking 129 days to sell on average. There were 24 properties tracked to March 2021.
