A quad biker has died after crashing into a lamppost in South Ockendon.
Essex Police were called to the scene just after 9pm yesterday (Sunday March 21), having received reports of the crash on Cherwell Grove.
A quad bike had collided with a lamppost and its driver, a man, suffered multiple injuries.
Despite the best efforts of paramedics he sadly died at the scene.
An investigation is now underway and officers would like to hear from any witnesses who saw the quad bike in the moments leading up to the crash or who saw the collision itself.
It is thought the quad bike may have been attempting to overtake another vehicle in the moments before the crash took place.
Anyone with information can contact officers at Essex Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit by calling 101 or emailing CollisionAppeal@essex.police.uk
