The list of Southend businesses planning to reopen in the next step out of lockdown has been revealed. 

All non-essential shops will be able to reopen to the public from April 12, while hospitality venues, such as restaurants and pubs, will be able to serve food and drink to customers outdoors. 

Business group Southend Bid has drawn up a directory of all the venues planning to reopen on April 12 in an effort to spread the word to customers. 

More businesses are able to sign up to the directory free of charge, but here is what we know so far about the businesses in Southend that plan to open from April 12:

  • Adventure Island (opening on April 17)
  • Adventure Island Catering Outlets 
  • Aurum Restaurant 
  • Gleneagles Guesthouse and Tearooms 
  • Lemon Witch
  • The Mermaid Cafe
  • Oyster Creek Kitchen (opening from April 13)
  • Peggy’s Music Bar (open on Monday, April 12 from 2pm til 10pm as a one off. Monday after that Thursday to Sunday)
  • Roslin Beach Hotel (outside dining only)
  • Sealife Adventure (outside areas only)

Other businesses have meanwhile confirmed they plan to reopen in the following step out of lockdown, on May 17.

  • Roslin Beach Hotel (inside dining and hotel rooms)
  • Sealife Adventure - (full re-opening is planned for May 17)
  • Suenos Guesthouse
  • Truleigh Scrumptious

The Leigh Community Centre, in Elm Road, has meanwhile confirmed it will be reopening from June 21.
