A MAN was stabbed in the neck and wrist after he was confronted by thugs armed with a machete.

The victim, in his 30s, was cycling through an alleyway between the Weald and Link Road, before he was attacked by a group of "four or five".

The group, which included boys and girls, were all dressed in black.

He was rushed to hospital, but his injuries are neither life-threatening nor life-changing.

A spokesman from Essex Police, said: "We are appealing for witnesses after a man was attacked with a machete on Canvey Island.

"The victim, a man aged in his 30s, suffered injuries to his neck and wrist during the attack, at about 10pm on Saturday 27 March.

"One of the boys is described as 6ft tall and was wearing a grey hooded top and a green gilet."

DS Mike Monkton, of Castle Point and Rochford CID, added: “We know incidents such as this may cause concern within our community and we are taking this incident very seriously.

“We have put in place additional high visibility patrols in the area since Saturday.

“I would encourage anyone who has any information on this incident to get in touch.”
