A crash which left two drivers trapped in their cars has blocked a carriageway on the A127.

The accident, which took place around 8am this morning (April 9), happened on the A127 travelling Londonbound - just prior to the M25 (J29).

As a result of the crash - which involved three vehicles - the carriageway was blocked, with all emergency services arriving at the scene.

Fire crews worked with paramedics to help release the two casualties by 9am.

Three patients were assessed at the scene, while two were transported to Queen's Hospital in Romford for further care.

A spokesperson from the fire service, said: "Firefighters were called to assist at the scene of a road traffic collision involving three vehicles on the London bound carriageway of the A127.

"Fire crews worked with paramedics to help release two casualties trapped in their cars.

"The casualties were released by 9am and left in the care of the ambulance service."

An East of England Ambulance Service spokesperson, said: “Two ambulances attended a road traffic collision on the junction for the B186 just after 8am this morning.

"Three patients were assessed at the scene and two adult males were transported to the Queen’s Hospital in Romford for further assessment and treatment.” 

Essex Police have confirmed they were called shortly before 7.40am.

A spokesperson added: "Emergency services attended and the road was reopened by 10.40am."
