AN ALLEGED rapist ordered his victim not to report his crimes or “he would be deported”, a court heard.

The trial of Heine Esterhuizen entered its second day yesterday with his alleged victim taking to the witness box behind screens at Basildon Crown Court.

The 25-year-old of Royal Mews, Southend denies three counts of rape and causing actual bodily harm.

The court heard a series of texts sent by Esterhuizen and the victim by prosecuting barrister Cyrus Shroff.

The messages had been exchanged following the incident which are alleged to have happened in 2017.

She said: “He told me ‘bury it, don’t mention it. If you tell anyone about it I will be deported’.

“I lived in fear of people against me telling me to be quiet.

“You live in fear of them until you’re pushed to breaking point. I did that. I shut up about it.

“He didn’t accept he had done anything wrong to me. He was in denial. His messages make it seem like he just didn’t care. He could do what he wanted to me and didn’t need to apologise. It’s not right, I can see that now.”

Esterhuizen sat emotionless in the dock during the woman’s testimony.

The court previously heard how Esterhuizen had allegedly beat the woman in and outside of a car during one incident after a night out.

The woman told the jury that she has been suffering ever since the alleged rape.

She continued: “I can’t get it out of my head. It has f***** my head up.

“Every time I close my eyes to go to bed I see him there raping me.

“It’s four years later and I still live like that. He expects me to live like normal.

“He doesn’t care that he’s f***** my head up. He cares about himself.”

The woman told the court that Esterhuizen was of South African origin, and other messages sent included “I will be deported”.

The trial continues.
