A MARRIED couple who died at a home in Leigh have been named - as police confirm they are not looking for anyone in relation to their deaths.

Essex Police and the ambulance service were called out to Tankerville Drive in Leigh on Saturday following concerns for their welfare.

A spokesman for the police said: "We are now in a position to name two people who were sadly found dead at a home in Leigh on Saturday.

"We were called by colleagues in the ambulance service to concerns for the welfare for a man aged in his 70s and a woman aged in her 60s in Tankerville Drive.

"When we arrived at the scene, shortly before 10am, we sadly found both had died.

"We can now identify them as married couple Eric Angell, 71, and Pauline Angell, 67, both of Tankerville Drive, in Leigh.

"We opened an investigation into the circumstances surrounding their death.

"A forensic post-mortem examination has now been carried out and a file is being prepared for the coroner.

"We can confirm we are not looking for anyone in connection with their deaths."

Neighbours said they were left in "complete shock" following the deaths.

Police, including forensics officers, were spotted at the scene throughout Saturday and overnight.

Forensic officers were also at the home on Monday morning alongside a police car situated outside the home.

An inquest will be held at Essex Coroner's Court at a later date.
