ONE of Southend’s top attractions will be welcoming back visitors for the first time this year.

Adventure Island reopens at 11am and allowing people back on almost all of its rides and attractions, apart from inside areas and the indoor section of Sealife Adventure, which partially reopened on Monday.

A full reopening of Sealife Adventure is taking place when the next easing of lockdown happens on May 17. Bosses at Adventure Island say all rides have been sprayed with anti-microbe surface sanitiser ahead of reopening.

It is said to last up to 30 days in all weather, killing any bacteria and viruses instantly.

Many of the Covid rules installed last year will remain in place at the attraction, which is only opening at weekends until May 29.

It will then be open daily from that date until September 5.

Some of the rules and safety measures in place include:

  • Completing test and trace information
  • Temperature checks when entering
  • Use of plastic screens
  • Increased cleaning regimes
  • Hand washing stations

Adventure Island says anyone with annual passes which were valid during any lockdowns in the past year will have that time automatically added to their pass.

Bosses have also announced the introduction of a new wrist-band system.

The multicoloured scheme has been scrapped in place of one that means anyone with a wristband can go on any ride they want, providing they meet the 120cm height rule.

Anyone looking to book a day ticket is able to save 20 per cent by booking online.
