A PRIMARY school is set to join an academy trust to secure the "best future" for students.

The Edwards Hall primary school has launched a consultation for parents, before it joins the Learning in Harmony Trust.

The consultation is running from April 27 and May 25.

In a letter home to parents, chair of governors Fay Stone, said: "The Governing Body has been carefully considering the best future strategy for Edwards Hall Primary
School, given the current Government’s policy for schools and academies and the broader educational landscape.

"We want to continue the improvement in the school’s and pupils' performance, to protect the unique ethos, values and character of our school and to keep the freedom to run our school in ways best for our community of pupils, staff, parents and carers.

"After thoroughly investigating our options, the Governing Body has come to the view that the best strategy is for Edwards Hall Primary School to convert to academy status and join the Learning in Harmony Trust."
