Police are seeking witnesses after a woman was assaulted and her bag was stolen in Grays.
A 20-year-old man was arrested following the incident in Howard Road, shortly before 5am on Tuesday, May 4.
The 24-year-old woman was pushed to the ground and suffered large cuts to head, which required hospital treatment.
Officers carried out a search and arrested a man on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.
He was also arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker and criminal damage.
He has been released on bail until May 29.
