TWO Oswestry organisations are making sure the message to Visit Oswestry reaches all the staycation visitors to Shropshire in summer 2021.

From this week and throughout the summer season, 40,000 visitors who are staying in a Shropshire hotel, B&B, self-catering cottage or campsite will be handed a pack of brochures and leaflets which not only feature Oswestry on the cover but also include one of Oswestry’s new town maps.

The project is a joint-venture between Oswestry Borderland Tourism and Oswestry Business Improvement District (BID), with Adele Nightingale, Oswestry BID manager delighted with the partnership.

“Both Oswestry BID and Oswestry Borderland Tourism are determined we will raise our profile as a great place to visit throughout 2021," she said.

"We are doing our best to promote both Oswestry Bid and Oswestry Borderland Tourism businesses to help them attract new customers as the pandemic fades away and they recover from the last disastrous year.”

Lee Lucks, chairman of Oswestry Borderland Tourism, added: “From a day out in Oswestry on market day, to the many historic attractions nearby, Oswestry is sometimes overlooked as a beautiful and interesting part of Shropshire.

"With so many people exploring lesser known parts of Britain as they go on staycation, now is the ideal time to explore a lesser known part of Shropshire and come to Oswestry.

"These packs will let every visitor know how much there is to see and in and around Oswestry.”

The visitor packs are being co-ordinated and distributed by Mark Hooper and Sarah Creighton from While we Visit.

Mark said: "We are pleased to be working with Oswestry Borderland Tourism and Oswestry Bid and are looking forward to getting the packs to every accommodation provider and Tourist Information Centre in Shropshire.

"We do feel that some visitors may be nervous about picking up leaflets so these packs will ensure that this is a safe way to find out what there is to see and do in super Shropshire.
