Three long-serving Carlisle United figures have received special awards from the EFL.

Chairman and co-owner Andrew Jenkins, along with secretary Sarah McKnight and president David Dent, have been recognosed for their many years of service to the Blues.

United said the three were due to receive awards at the annual EFL Awards ceremony.

With such an event unable to be staged in the normal way because of Covid-19, the Blues have presented the awards themselves.

Jenkins' extraordinary longevity at Brunton Park has seen him involved since 1959, when he first became a director.

McKnight has been at the club for 27 years while Dent, the club's honorary president, started out as United's first full-time secretary in 1960 before moving on to senior roles at Coventry City and the Football League.

Chief executive Nigel Clibbens said: “Congratulations from everybody at the club to Andrew, David and Sarah, and we thank them all for their loyal service.

“For our chairman, reaching 60 years is truly remarkable in the game. It is very rare.

“Andrew, David and Sarah are all very worthy recipients of the recognition.

"It’s a real shame they couldn’t be honoured at an EFL ceremony, but it is a privilege for us to be able to mark these milestones.”

Earlier this season United commissioned a music video to mark Pioneer Foodservice chairman Jenkins' six decades of involvement with the Blues.
