WITH plans for all restrictions to be lifted by June 21, people are busy planning their summer – hopefully free from Covid rules.

While some events have been cancelled for this year, many are still going ahead… and there’s something for everyone.

The Echo have compiled a list of the top five big events happening this summer in Southend.

1. Summertime Live

The soundtrack of Ibiza will boom across Southend this summer for the Summertime Live open air concert.

The concert will be held on July 9 in Garon Park and will be headlined by the Urban Soul Orchestra who will perform their Classic Ibiza set.

2. Southend Pride

Thousands of visitors are expected to flock to Southend for Pride this year after the event was given the go ahead.

The Pride parade will take place on Southend High Street on July 17 however the music festival in Warrior Square will not go ahead.

3. Craig David concert

Craig David is set to perform at Garon Park on July 10, subject to Covid rules.

Special guests are also set to attend the show but further details are yet to be announced.

McFly are also set to take to the stage. The boyband will be supported by Scouting for Girls.

4. Drive-In cinema

Sunset Drive-In will be showing an array of films at the cinema set up in Garon Park.

Movie fans will have a pick of seven films across the weekend starting May 21.

Iconic 80s film Dirty Dancing will kick off the weekend of fun, and will be followed by firm favourites like Grease, School of Rock, Bohemian Rhapsody, The Greatest Showman, Sister Act and the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

5. Proms at the Vulcan

An evening of music is set to take place at Southend Airport with the Essex Concert Orchestra.

The 50-strong orchestra will be performing a selection of popular and classical music and this family-friendly outdoor event.
