TRAINS across south Essex were on time 96 per cent of the time, new figures show.

Operator c2c has recorded its best punctuality figures since 2015/16 despite the challenges of Covid-19.

In the past year, 96 per cent of all c2c trains arrived at their destination on time according to official figures released by Network Rail. c2c Managing Director Ben Ackroyd said: “Like the rest of the world, we have never experienced anything like the difficulties of the past year.

“I am exceptionally proud of how our team has pulled together during the pandemic to help those customers who have kept travelling.

“Despite the impact Covid has had on us all, they have delivered the reliable service their fellow key workers depended on to get to work, to keep the region and the country going.”

“We will do our very best to maintain this reliable service over the year ahead.

“As more and more people return to travelling by rail, we aim to offer the punctual, clean and dependable service that enables them to travel with c2c with confidence.”
