ALMOST half of residents across south Essex have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, figures have revealed.

NHS data has shown nearly half of people in Castle Point have received two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine.

While two in five people in Basildon have received two doses and more than two in five people in Southend have received two doses.

Castle Point

In Castle Point, 34,840 people had received both jabs by May 23 – 47 per cent of those aged 16 and over, based on the latest population estimates from the Office for National Statistics.

Of those to have received both jabs, 31,665 were aged 40 and over – 61 per cent of the age group.

It means 3,175 people aged between 16 and 39 have received both doses.

Southend

In Southend, 60,870 people had received both jabs by May 23 – 41 per cent of those aged 16 and over.

Of those to have received both jabs, 54,002 were aged 40 and over – 56 per cent of the age group.

This means 6,868 people aged between 16 and 39 have received both doses.

Basildon

In Basildon, 59,269 people had received both jabs by May 23 – 40 per cent of those aged 16 and over.

Of those to have received both jabs, 52,281 were aged 40 and over – 57 per cent of the age group.

While 6,988 people aged between 16 and 39 have received both doses.
