BROTHERS got drunk and then attacked two men causing them to lose teeth in a brawl.

Harry and Mason Mills have been spared jail after the attack in Grays in February last year.

The two brothers had taken part in“Dry January” where they did not drink alcohol for a month, but then went out and drank heavily on February 1.

Harry, 25, and Mason, 24, both of Dock Road, Tilbury, were sentenced at Basildon Crown Court.

Judge Samantha Cohen said that an incident arose where Harry became angry over a comment concerning his girlfriend made by two other men.

She said: “The pair of you acted in a wholly disproportionate and violent manner. You both became involved in serious violence.

“Harry, you punched and kicked and caused him [the victim] a broken cheekbone and knocked a tooth out.

“You lost your good character, and that is something you will never get back.

“Mason, you assaulted the other man and caused him significant bruising and he lost his front tooth.

“At that time you were also of good character but you have lost that.”

Mitigation for the brothers said they were remorseful and that the violence was “totally out of character” with Harry having never been in a fight before.

Harry Mills admitted causing grievous bodily harm while Mason admitted causing actual bodily harm.

Judge Cohen chose not to send the brothers to prison, giving Harry nine months suspended for 18 months, along with 200 hours of unpaid work. He must pay £1,500 compensation.

Mason Mills was given 25 days of rehabilitation and 100 hours unpaid work. He must pay £500 compensation.
