A major incident has unfolded on Southend seafront this evening.

It's understood at least four police cars and four paramedic teams are attending the incident, which is believed to have unfolded earlier today (June 1).

There have been reports of casualties, while an area of the seafront behind Adventure Island has been cordoned off by police crews.

Essex Police and the ambulance service have been contacted for comment.

UPDATE:

Essex Police have confirmed an 18-year-old was left "seriously injured" after being attacked on the seafront.

The force received reports of a disturbance involving a group of people around 6.45pm.

After attending, the team found an 18-year-old man seriously injured.

He was taken to hospital for further treatment.
