Cause of fire near Southend United's football stadium revealed
The cause of a blaze which took place near Southend United's football stadium has been undetermined.
Firefighters were called to reports of a fire at Roots Hall Avenue at around 6.30pm yesterday where a "large quantity of astroturf" was alight.
Four crews attended the scene to help prevent the spread of the fire.
At 10pm, three crews remained at the scene and a mechanical digger was used to move around material to help crews eliminate any remaining fire hotspots.
Firefighters left the scene at around 11.30pm.
The cause of the fire has been recorded as accidental or deliberate.
