POLICE and fire crews have been pictured at the scene of an incident at a Sainsburys petrol station.

A crash between a car and a motorbike at the petrol station at the Knightswick Centre on Canvey, off Elder Tree Road, occured earlier this afternoon.

It's understood the rider has been taken to hospital.

The Echo understands the petrol station is now closed for the rest of the day.

A spokesman from the Essex fire service, said: “Firefighters were called to a road traffic collision on Furtherwick Road in Canvey Island at 1:!5pm.

“On arrival, crews reported that a car and a motorbike had collided but nobody was trapped in their vehicle.

"Crews helped to make the scene safe by 2:56pm.”

A spokesman from Essex Police, added: "We were called to an incident near to a petrol station at the Knightswick Centre, on Canvey, shortly before 1.15pm today, Wednesday 9 June.

"A motorcycle had collided with a car and the motorcyclist, a man aged in his 50s, suffered injuries which are not thought to be life-threatening.

"He has been taken to hospital for treatment.

"Our enquiries are ongoing.
