VACCINE volunteers will be able to pick up free car parking from later this month.

Volunteers at vaccine sites across Rochford will be able to park for free at pay and display car parks, council bosses have confirmed.

The Government has withdrawn the emergency parking pass for NHS staff by June 21, meaning it won't be accepted at Rochford Council car parks.

Volunteer passes can be used at the Mill Arts and Events Centre car park in Rayleigh, the Audley Mills Surgery, Websters Way car park, The Puzey Family Practice, and Back Lane car park.

Daniel Efde, said: “Since the start of the pandemic it has become even more evident how much we rely on our volunteers and appreciate the tenacity and sacrifices to help support the NHS in keeping us as safe as possible.

“Whilst the Covid-19 parking pass will no longer be valid by 21 June 2021, we are delighted to announce that the council will continue to offer free parking to our healthcare heroes, whilst volunteering at our local vaccination centres as a small gesture of our appreciation.”

The pass will be valid for 6 months from 21 June 2021 and will be reviewed every 6 months.
