A HISTORIC pub in Wickford will reopen next week after a year of closure.
The Dick Turpin on the A127 is set to reopen on Wednesday June 23 after the decision to permanently close the pub was reversed earlier this year.
It was announced in November 2020 that the Dick Turpin would not reopen, after closing in the first lockdown, which sparked disappointment from residents.
But now parent company Greene King has decided to reopen the pub following a consideration of their position, and has since been busy recruiting a new team.
Ian Wanless, operations manager at Greene King, said: “We’re excited to be re-opening the Dick Turpin on Wednesday June 23 after being closed for so long.

"After a tough year, it is great news for the hospitality industry that we are able to welcome residents back and offer new employment opportunities in the area.
“The decision to close the pub was initially made due to the effects of the pandemic and the continued tightening of the trading restrictions for pubs.
"After reviewing the circumstances earlier this year, we decided that once restrictions had been lifted further, we could reopen the pub to our residents once again. We can’t wait to welcome everyone in Wickford back to celebrate with us.”
