A BRAVE father was stabbed as he attempted to stop an alleged arsonist setting fire to his front door.

The dad leapt into action in the early hours of the morning and found scorch marks on the front door of his family home in Minster Road, Laindon.

The 26-year-old, who suffers from seizures, along with partner Brooke Moore and their two young children have been blighted by attacks over the past year.

Following an initial report by the Echo on Friday, the family were targeted again Monday.

The man tried to set fire to the door at around 12.20am before stabbing the dad as he confronted him outside.

The man’s injuries are not believed to be life changing but he needed multiple stitches.

Ms Moore, 22, said: “A guy came back early hours of Monday morning and tried setting my front door on fire.

“My partner noticed and tried grabbing him to get him to stop which led to my partner being stabbed.

“I am now being forced to stay with my mum in an overcrowded house.

“it’s just one thing after another with this place.

“He will be okay, he’s in a lot of pain and had to have stitches but it could’ve been a lot worse.”

In a heartfelt message to her partner, she said: “Thank you for putting your life at risk to save ours, even if it meant getting stabbed and gaining another war wound.”

Ms Moore said that landlords Swan Housing have now arranged for the family to be moved.

A spokesman for Swan said: “The health and safety of our customers is of utmost concern and Swan will continue to take all anti-social behaviour issues extremely seriously.

“We are fully aware of this incident and Swan’s specialist teams will continue to work with the family concerned to discuss both short- and longer-term options for them.

“We are working with the Police to gather appropriate evidence in support of this ongoing investigation.”

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “The man left on foot in the direction of Leinsters Road.

“Officers searched the area, spoke to neighbours, and are continuing to gather CCTV, doorbell footage and dashcam.

“Anyone with information, or relevant footage we haven’t seen, is urged to get in contact.
