A MAN was taken to hospital with injuries to his head after reportedly being struck with a bottle during a violent mass brawl.

Essex Police officers are investigating reports of a fight involving a large group of people which broke out in a restaurant in Billericay.

The shocking incident, which took place inside The Brunch and Bottle, on the High Street, at about 11.55pm on Saturday, is believed have involved around 10 people.

As a result of the fight one man had to be taken to hospital after suffering injuries to his head, but according to Essex Police he has since been discharged.

The force's enquiries remain ongoing, but officers who attended the incident have been led to believe the man may have been struck with a bottle.

A spokesman for Essex Police has now appealed to members of the public for information which could help with the force's investigation.

He said: "We need anyone who saw what happened or has any CCTV or dash cam footage to contact us."
