Everything we know as Billericay brawl leaves man with head injuries

Essex Police officers are investigating reports of a fight involving a large group of people which broke out in a restaurant in Billericay.

The shocking incident, which took place inside The Brunch and Bottle, on the High Street, at about 11.55pm on Saturday, is believed have involved around 10 people.

As a result of the fight one man had to be taken to hospital after suffering injuries to his head, but according to Essex Police he has since been discharged.

The force’s enquiries remain ongoing, but officers who attended the incident have been led to believe the man may have been struck with a bottle.

Adam Adshead, Billericay councillor for the area's east ward, called for people to act more sensibly now restaurants and bars have reopened.

He said: "It is a shame and very sad to hear of something like this happening in our town, but I must stress this is a very rare occurrence.

"I am sorry for anyone who was injured or impacted by this, and I send my well wishes to the man who was taken to hospital.

"What I would say is this little bit of freedom we now have is something wonderful for most people, but we must take it easy.

"Most of us have not been out for a very long time and so it is easy to get over excited."

A spokesman for Essex Police has now appealed to members of the public for information which could help with the force’s investigation.

He said: “We need anyone who saw what happened or has any CCTV or dash cam footage to contact us.”
