ESSEX Police carried out patrols in South"hotspots" for crime over the weekend.

Operation Union saw patrols take place across Old Leigh and Southend High Street as officers were supported by the forces Operational Support Group.

Throughout the three day patrols, officers attended to a number of incidents and received a lot of positive engagement from residents.

On Friday, officers visited eight licensed premises in the build up to the England game in the Euros. They then carried out dedicated patrols during and after the game.

They also carried out one positive stop search which was dealt with outside of court.

On Saturday, two arrests were made - one for assault and possession of drugs with intent to supply. The other was for drug driving.

Police also carried out four positive stop searches and one positive stop search for cannabis, all of which were dealt with outside of court.

OSG officers seized two vehicles for no insurance. One was seized under section 59 of the Road Traffic Act after they were seen driving in an antisocial manner.

On the final day of patrols, officers attended to six incidents' where three arrests were made for assault, harassment and drink driving.

There was one stop search and four intelligence reports submitted.

Police also assisted with a concern for a male wanting to jump off of a jet ski. He was rescued by the RNLI.
