Six roads across Southend will be closed at various points in July to allow resurfacing to take place.
It forms part of Southend Council’s £5m programme of works to improve roads in the borough.
Highways contractor, Marlborough, will be repairing and re-laying full roads and stretches of roads that require “immediate attention” between now and March next year.
A total of 30 roads and 31 pavements are due to have been resurfaced by the end of the programme.
The dates of this months road closures have yet to be announced, but Southend Council says two-week notice will be given for each one.
Works for the following roads are planned throughout July:
- London Road/ Milton Junction – including North Road and Milton Road
Two-night closure
- Lifstan Way – from Southchurch Road to Woodgrange Drive
Five-day closure
- North Shoebury Road – from Angel pub to roundabout access to Asda car park
Six-night closure
- Eastwood Road North – from A127 to approximately number 40 Eastwood Road North
Single-day closure
- Crowstone Avenue – from The Leas to approximately number 60 Crowstone Avenue
Five-day closure
- Westcliff Parade – from east side Wilson Road to Cliff Pavilion
Seven-day closure
Council bosses say all work is dependent on the weather, as crews are not able to lay roads in ‘adverse weather’.
On their decision to choose specific roads to repair, Southend Council said: “The areas have gone through a strict quality check in line with the council’s procedure, which is based on various risks, and in accordance with the Highways Code of Practice.
