A DRUG dealer who crashed the uninsured vehicle he was driving whilst fleeing police has been jailed for four years.

Jamie Marshak, 36, was driving a black Renault Clio in Basildon in June 2020.

Vehicles from Essex Police's Roads Policing Unit attempt to stop the vehicle, but Marshak, of Timberlog Lane, Basildon, sped away in an attempt to evade police.

He was pursued to Benfleet and eventually came to a stop when he lost control of the car and it overturned in Jarvis Road.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "The driver escaped from the vehicle but was chased on foot through the undergrowth by officers and into gardens where he was arrested.

"Upon searching him the man was found to have a quantity of wraps containing suspected Class A drugs and cannabis upon his person.

"He was also arrested for these offences."
