An Indian restaurant chain is offering customers free vindaloo curries if England win the Euro 2020 final.

The owner of the Kushi curry house chain, which has restaurants in south Essex, said the offer would help fans celebrate “in traditional football fashion” and is in honour of the 1998 anthem Vindaloo.

Those who order a vindaloo up until kick off at 8pm tonight can claim another at any time throughout July, should Gareth Southgate’s men triumph over Italy.

For customers wanting to take advantage of the patriotic offer but who cannot quite handle the full heat of the fiery curry, a less spicy version will be available.

Kushi owner Sharif Uddin said: “I’m so thrilled with England’s win against Denmark, I want customers to celebrate in traditional football fashion, with a vindaloo curry, in honour of the chart-topping anthem by Fat Les, loved by football fans.”

The 1998 song, which has become a staple play following England victories alongside Three Lions, was described as “an ode to joy” by co-writer Alex James of Blur.

Vindaloo curries at Kushi cost between £7.25 (vegan) and £13.95 (king prawn).

To claim their second free curry, customers must present their bills from July 8 to 11 before the end of July, Sundays to Thursdays.

Kushi venues are located in Brentwood, Grays, Romford, Canvey Island, Ockendon, Linford and Tilbury.

Mr Uddin previously donated 15,000 complimentary meals to frontline workers and vulnerable people in Essex and north Kent during the coronavirus pandemic.
