A ROAD in Southend has been closed after a man was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash.
Essex Police have said Chichester Road in Southend is likely to remain closed all night after the crash at 8pm.
The man, aged in his 40s, has been taken to hospital with serious injuries and the vehicle that hit him failed to stop at the scene.

A police spokesman said: "The road has been closed and is likely to be closed through the night and into the morning as we progress our investigation.
"We will provide an update as and when we can.
"Anyone who has not yet spoken to us and either witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage of it or the moments leading up to it should call 101 and cite incident 1229 of today, July 13."
Motorists should avoid the area.
