Road bosses have announced four-week roadworks will take place next month to allow new traffic lights to be installed.
Essex Highways say preparations are being made to renew the traffic signals in Rayeligh Road, Hadleigh.
The work will take place to the south of Beresford Garden and get underway on Monday, August 16.
Bosses say the traffic lights need to replaced before they become “unreliable”.
The pedestrian facilities in the area will also be upgraded from a pelican to puffin crossing.
This means the crossing will not have a flashing green man for pedestrians or a flashing amber light for drivers.

Contractors will also be replacing or renewing underground cable ducts under the road and pavements, as well as replacing equipment above ground.
The majority of the work will be carried during the day with lane restrictions will be put in place.
These will be managed by temporary traffic lights.
A spokesman for Essex Highways said: “We currently anticipate that a limited number of full road closures on Beresford Gardens will be required overnight to allow work to take place across the carriageway.
“Closure dates are currently being finalised and will be shared when available. “Please be assured the road will reopen after each shift.”
Access for residents located within the closure and emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times during road closures.
