Three people had to be rescued by firefighters after they were trapped following a crash.
The collision on London Road, Wickford, saw the road closed in both directions for around four hours yesterday afternoon.
All three emergency services were called to the scene just before 2.30pm after two vehicles had crashed near to the junction with Castledon Road.
Fire crews from Basildon and Wickford were able to free the three people trapped within 30 minutes.
They had to use cutting equipment to reach one of the people inside.

All three were then left in the care of the ambulance service for treatment, with two being taken to hospital.
The road eventually reopened just after 7pm.
A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: "Two ambulances, three vehicles from the Hazardous Area Response Team and the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance attended a road traffic collision on the junction of London Road and Castledon Road in Wickford just before 2.30pm yesterday.
"Two patients were transported to Basildon and Thurrock Hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries."
