A Rayleigh school have issued a notice to parents after being made aware of positive cases of Covid-19.

The Sweyne Park School, based on Sir Walter Raleigh Drive, this morning notified parents and carers of the positive test results which were recorded over the weekend.

Although it is not yet known the number of cases, headteacher Katharine Dines has urged students to book a PCR test should their lateral flow test return positive.

In an email, she said: "I am sorry to say that we have been notified of more positive test results over the weekend.

"As I mentioned in my email on Friday, from today, NHS Test and Trace will be managing contact tracing for all schools across the country.

"If your son/daughter does return a positive LFT, you must book a PCR test as soon as possible and self-isolate immediately, pending the results.

"Please then contact NHS Test and Trace in the first instance.

"We would, however, ask that you continue to register the results of the twice weekly LFT via the TestRegister platform.

"Thank you for your ongoing support."
