A MAN has been charged with murder after a woman died in a house fire.

Andrew Wilding, 41, of Southchurch Road, Southend, will appear in court today following the fatal fire on July 3.

The fire in Southchurch Road resulted in the death of 66-year-old Elsie Pinder.

She was rescued from the fire in the early hours of Saturday morning, before passing away a "short time later."

Wilding, who will appear at Southend Magistrates' Court, has also been charged with arson with intent to endanger life.

Paying tribute to her following the death, Elsie's son Paul said: "She was a lovely, kind-hearted, generous, loving and witty lady who can only be described as a bottle of champagne waiting to pop.

“She will be sadly missed.”
