BRIDES-To-BE have lost hundreds of pounds and fear their big day could be ruined after a florist called in an insolvency firm.

Dozens of excited couples had ordered flowers and decorations for weddings from Stacey’s Flowers in Pitsea, and now fear they will have nowhere to turn to before they tie the knot.

Liquidators are yet to be appointed and couples have been forced to contact their banks for a refund.

Beth Bailey, and her partner Vaughan Williams, who are set to get wed in four weeks time, were charged just under £1,000 for flowers, decorations, chair covers, and table toppers.

The 26-year-old, from Laindon, said: “They just vanished off the face of the Earth. It’s really stressful, I’m trying to speak to my bank.

“We’ve got the whole thing to sort out now. Hundreds of people are trying to get hold of them.”

Sophie Scully, from Vange, has also been left £600 short after she bought the “wedding package” for her wedding in Hertfordshire in June The 29-year-old, said: “It was for flowers, bouquets and all sorts. They took too many bookings. I think I’m one of the lucky ones, it’s quite a way off yet but we need to sort out the refunds with the bank. It’s frustrating because I’ve used them before and they’ve been brilliant.”

Jodie West, 29, from Laindon, was charged £350 for a number of wedding items, including doughnut boards, balloons, flowers, and a flower wall to name just a few.

Her big day is not until September, admitting she is “one of the lucky ones”.

Stacey’s Flowers has taken to social media in a bid to apologise to devastated couples.

A spokesman said: “I am truly so sorry.

“For legal reasons I am unable to discuss this matter any further as it has now been taken over by an insolvency firm who will be the point of contact going forward.”

The Echo has seen receipts for customers who were told to pay up front for flowers and decorations.
