Basildon has become the latest area in south Essex to record 1,000 new Covid cases in a week.
A total of 1,011 infections were identified in the borough in the seven days up to July 17.
It comes as Southend passed 1,000 new weekly infections on Wednesday.
Castle Point still has the highest infection rate in Essex after seeing the fifth biggest increase in Covid cases in the country.
The rate in the borough stands at 767.9 cases per 100,000 people after it saw the number of infections in a week climb from 274 to 694.
It has a higher infection rate than Southend and Basildon because of its smaller population.
Southend has recorded 1,078 new Covid cases in the past week, while there was 514 in Rochford.
The coronavirus hotspots map shosw there are a number of neighbourhoods in south Essex which are recording localised infection rates above 800.
