A Southend restaurant was closed for four days after three members of staff tested positive for Covid-19.

Molo Lounge – part of national chain Lounges which runs 172 premises across the UK – closed its doors to the public on Thursday, July 22.

The High Street restaurant confirmed the staff members were not “seriously unwell” following their positive tests in a post on Facebook.

Doors reopened at the restaurant at 9am this morning.

It had been close over the weekend after management decided to take undertake a deep clean and take monitoring whether other staff members need to self-isolate too.

In a post on social media last Thursday a spokesperson for the restaurant said: “Unfortunately, we have decided to close Molo Lounge temporarily because three of our team members have tested positive for coronavirus. Thankfully they are not seriously unwell.

“As yet no other members of the team have been told to self-isolate by NHS Test & Trace but we have decided to close as a precaution. We will re-open when we are confident our team are fit and well and the Lounge has been thoroughly deep cleaned and sanitised.

“We understand that this news will be of concern to those of you who have recently visited Molo. We have been collecting details of customer visits for NHS Test & Trace, with many checking in through the Test & Trace app.”
