A TERRIFIED mum was told she would be stabbed in the face before being dragged to the floor and kicked in the head in a brutal attack on a night out.

The 29-year-old woman, who asked not to be named, was enjoying her first night out since lockdown in Southend before being approached by a group of girls believed to be between 18 and 20 years old.

A member of the group pushed the victim’s friend before five more girls surrounded them, threatening to stab the woman in the face.

The victim left the bar and moved on to the Slug and Lettuce, but was later dragged to the floor before being repeatedly kicked by at least nine of the girls during the attack on Friday night.

The victims didn’t know the gang.

She said: “I think it’s disgraceful.

“My friend was dancing and one of these girls in a group went to grab her. An hour later she was dancing again and the same girl pushed her.

“I said to them to just leave her alone.

“Next thing I know there’s seven or eight girls saying they would stab me in my face. I couldn’t believe it I thought ‘what is going on?’ “We then left and went to the Slug and Lettuce which was fine.

“We walked down to get a taxi. I put my bags and shoes and phone on the back seat and then we hear the same girls screaming “look who it is”.

“I said to them to just go away. One of them grabbed my phone and smashed it.

“I got dragged to the floor and attacked by three or four of them behind me.

“I’d say there was 15 of them in total. They were coming out of nowhere.

“There was three of them kicking the back of me, three at the front and three on my head.

The mum has now been left frightened to go out again.

“It’s really put me off going out again.

“Everyone dealt with lockdown differently but I was really anxious about going back out. It was just disgraceful in any situation for people to behave like that. I’m shocked by the whole thing.

“It never used to be like this in Southend. I was jut thinking of my child growing up in a world like this which I really don’t want.”

Police have been contacted for comment.
