A PLEA for forgiveness has appeared over the Rayleigh Weir junction.

Commuters were left surprised when spotting the large black and white banner over the A127 at the junction with Rayleigh Weir this morning.

The message "I'm sorry Tom, please forgive me xxx" appeared at some point over the weekend, and has left residents questioning who Tom is.

Earliest sightings of the banner were on Saturday morning.

The message has been shared in various groups online, including the Secret Rayleigh Gossip group.

One residents said: "Saw it yesterday (10am) so has been up a while.

"No idea what it is for but I'm soooooooo curious."

Another resident said: "I’m invested.

"Who is Tom! What has this person done to him? Will we ever track Tom?"
