New plans to convert an office block in Westcliff have been put forward.
Tythorn Investments wants planning permission to change the use of 648 - 656 London Road so it can install 24 flats.
The new homes would be set up on the first, second and third floors of the building, known as Chalkwell Lawns, with commercial space retained on the ground floor.
The homes would consists of 15 one-bedroom and nine two-bedroom apartments.
A total of 36 car parking spaces, which are already on-site, would be allocated to new residents and a further 30 storage spaces would be created for bikes.
The application has been submitted to check if planning permission is required as some redevelopments of commercial buildings are already permitted under planning laws.

A transport assessment carried out by the applicant states there would be little impact on the roads in the area, with experts suggesting new residents would likely generate 286 additional trips in and out of the area per day.
It also adds the flats would be based in a sustainable location due to local bus services and the nearby train station in Chalkwell.
No changes are planned for the outside of the building, with alterations made inside to create the new homes.
Space for three separate offices/ commercial spaces would be created on the ground floor.
No objections have yet been raised by statutory consultees or members of the public.
Southend Council will have the final say on the proposals.
