Boxing star Conor Benn has been ruled out of this weekend's Fight Camp in Essex after he tested positive for Covid-19.

Benn's fight against Adrian Granados was due to be the main event this Saturday when Matchroom's Eddie Hearn will host a series of bouts in Mascalls Lane, Brentwood.

A new date for the fight will be announced in due course, but Hearn has confirmed Fight Camp will still go ahead this weekend, with Xu Can and Leigh Wood's world title bout now the main event.

In a video posted on streaming service Dazn's Twitter page, Hearn said: "Breaking news and slightly disappointing news, Conor Benn has failed a Covid test this morning.

"We are conducting further PCR tests but he will be off the card on Saturday night.

"Luckily its a stacked card from top to bottom.

"Conor Benn is in good spirits, feels well but of course he will obey the isolation rules and reset and reschedule his fight.

"We will make an announcement on that soon."

Matchroom previously got permission to continue hosting events in Brentwood despite concerns from the local council.

It plans to host two more evenings of boxing later this summer.

A total of 250 guests each paying £750 will be bused into Matchroom for each of the events.

They will be expected to park their cars at the Brentwood Centre.

All the fights will be televised across streaming service, Dazn.
