A DEPARTMENT store has reopened following an incident which left a boy fighting for his life in hospital.
Fenwick, in Colchester's High Street, is now open to the public again after days of closure.
A statement from the store said: "We can confirm our Colchester store has now reopened following the incident on Tuesday.
"The Fenwick family and our whole team remain deeply saddened by the situation and we continue to work with the local authorities to understand how this happened."
Emergency services rushed to Fenwick shortly after 11.30am on Tuesday with reports of concerns for the welfare of a child.
When they arrived, they found a five-year-old boy had sustained a serious head injury.
He was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital, in Cambridge, in a critical condition, which is where he remains.

An Essex Police spokesman said: "Specialist officers are supporting the boy’s family at this time.
"We are supporting an investigation into the incident alongside Colchester Council."
Colchester Council announced on Thursday it was investigating the circumstances surrounding the boy's injury.
