NEARLY £100,000 has been raised for a brave little boy battling cancer as neighbours rally to raise even more towards his life-saving treatment in Germany.

Mum Louise and dad Cameron were determined to raise at least £60,000 before September for little Henry Hall, who was diagnosed with brain and spine cancer in February.

He has since had chemotherapy to shrink his tumours.

However, with radiotherapy the only treatment that can save the three-year-old’s life, a fundraising bid was launched to help pay for the least damaging form of treatment.

This is called proton beam therapy, which is not available to Henry on the NHS.

His parents vowed to do whatever it takes to get Henry the lifesaving treatment he needs - no matter the cost.

The family, from Great Wakering, are set to use the funding raised to pay for treatment privately at the West German Proton Therapy Centre in Germany.

Neighbour, Cheryl Langford said: “We’ve known the family since we moved in about two years ago, and it’s been so sad to see poor Henry go through what he has.

“Its fantastic everyone has already managed to help raise more than the initial goal of £60,000, but more is needed.

“Its a case of the more the better.

“Any extra funding will also help with accommodation costs for the family, the whole family are set to be going out there.

“His parents have also both had to give up work, so anything to help them means a lot.”

The total raised so far stands at more than £98,000.

Cheryl hopes that by holding a charity fun day in Henry’s honour they can raise more than £100,000 by this weekend.

The event, held between 11am and 3pm on Sunday, will see neighbours on the Star Lane Housing Development come together and set up stalls and activities to create a “walking fair”.

Cheryl, 39, said: “Where we live it’s a new-build estate, so we’re all quite close knit and all know each other. We just wanted to help out any way we could.

"We are doing stalls outside of our houses and on our driveways, as well as having bouncing castles and even some children’s characters walking around.”
