Canvey is set to see a dispersal order in place this weekend after dangerous street racing near to Roscommon Way.

Dispersal orders are put in place to protect members of the community and their safety and wellbeing.

The latest dispersal order, which follows trouble in the area last week, will be in place from 3pm this afternoon (August 6) to 6am on Sunday (August 8).

During this time officers will be able to move anyone on from the area if they are believed to be involved in crime, anti-social behaviour or disorder.

Dispersal order in place after reports of car meet planning to attend this weekend

It comes after another dispersal order was rolled out across Canvey last week, with Essex Police having received reports of a planned car meet.

A spokesman from the force, said: "We know that car cruising events often have very few safety measures in place, so not only are they anti-social for those who live around the area, but they are a very real danger to those attending these events.

"We have no issues with true car enthusiasts who meet in sensible locations with the landowner’s consent with roadworthy cars and who are respectful to the local community.

"Anyone who experiences antisocial behaviour should report it to us.

"You can submit a report online at https://www.essex.police.uk or use the 'Live Chat' button to speak to an online operator between 7am-11pm or call us on 101."
