TRAVELLERS have refused to leave a country park, despite being ordered to do so by the end of yesterday.
The travellers, who pitched up at the Cherry Orchard Country Park car park in Rochford on Sunday, remain at the site.
However, council chiefs have now applied for a court eviction, which has been set for Monday August 16.
This comes after council bosses ruled out installing extra security measures at the car park, despite the latest encampment.

"Previously a Direction to Leave notice was served by officers on the August 10, further to this action an application to court for a summons has been successful, with a court hearing set for Monday, seeking eviction of the encampment.
"Rochford Council has been liaising with the Essex Countywide Traveller Unit (ECTU) and the police in relation to this matter."
