A girl from Rayleigh who was part of a group of teenagers who cheekily pinched Matt Hancock’s cap has told him he can have it back.

Georgia Lewis was out with friends at the weekend when they came across the former Health Secretary while travelling on the London Underground.

Georgia’s social media post about their chance meeting with Mr Hancock has since gone viral on TikTok.

In it, the group of girls can be seen taking selfies with him, chanting his name and it was also revealed they took his cap when leaving the train.

In an interview with the Mirror, Georgia insisted the girls weren’t looking to embarrass Mr Hancock and has said he is welcome to come and collect his cap.

She said: “If he wants his hat back he can come and get it.

Echo:

"He's more than welcome to have it back. We don't want to steal it. We just wanted pictures in it.

"As we got off the train one of my friends took it. It ended up on my head at one point.

"When we got off the train his words were 'go and enjoy yourselves girls, have a good night'.

"I said 'thanks for the hat' and he just put his thumb up."

Georgia added: "We said a couple of times we felt bad that we have his hat.

"When we noticed him he kept his hat down, he didn't want to be noticed. Maybe that's why he had the hat and the mask on.

"We felt bad but it was just a laugh."

Georgia has also denied suggestions that Mr Hancock was flirting with her and her friends.

He infamously stepped down as Health Secretary in June after The Sun revealed he had been having an affair with aide, Gina Coladangelo.

Georgia said: "My nan said 'he's not a bad looking chap is he'. My mum agreed. They appreciated the good looks of him.

"I thought he had a bit of a tan. He was looking a bit bronzed up.

"Everyone seems to think he's a ladies' man now. I've had a few messages saying he was flirting with us.

"But I don't think he was being flirty, he was just being nice."

Georgia told the Mirror she has since sent Mr Hancock a video of their meeting on the Tube on Instagram but he has yet to reply to her.
